Week 16 - RISPCA

A gallop on the beach captured by Steve from http://www.stevehopkinsphotography.com/

Well, here I am again, endlessly behind in my weekly blog. But I will conquer it soon!

Week 16 goes to the Rhode Island chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This chapter is 140 years old and the third oldest humane organization in the United States! They provide education, outreach, and legislative and legal support for animal welfare issues in the state. In addition, they run a full service shelter and pet assisted therapy programs for nursing homes and  hospitals. They address pet overpopulation as one of the root causes of cruelty to animals.

Every May, RISPCA holds a fundraising ride in the beautiful Goddard Memorial State Park. I was lucky enough to get to attend this year with one of my gorgeous fillies, Safira. I was joined by my good friends, Kelly with her handsome Quarter Horse Cowboy and Gwen with her fairy tale Percheron/Arabian steed Rowan (pictured above). The ride consists of lovely groomed trails covering several different New England habitats: forest, wetland, and sandy beach. The ride includes lunch and all the proceeds benefit RISPCA.

For more information please visit the RISPCA Website.

My donation will be matched 100% by my company.
Happy Thursday! Stay tuned for my next blog post which be an organization in Indiana in honor of our trip there this weekend.
